June the 1st is the date that all the financial services industry in the United States must comply with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) regulations. The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is trying to make an exemption for Online Poker.
The PPA has approached Senator Jon Kyl seeking a solution for online poker. John Pappas, the PPA Executive Director declared: “The PPA is going to submit a petition seeking that peer-to-peer games be excluded from the final promulgation of the UIGEA rules. We need to get Jon Kyl to agree to this revision. It wouldn’t seek to delay the law, but it would clearly exempt poker and pari-mutuel dog and horse racing.”
The Poker Players Alliance has more than one million members and a strong voice in the poker industry. We will all follow the issue closely and we hope it will have positive outcome for all poker players’ society.
