Is Brazil the next Latin American Poker king?

According to Brazilian laws, all casino-style games are illegal in Brazil. The ban has roots in the 1960s where gambling was connected with organized crime. This made poker to delay in appearing in Brazilian market.

However, Poker started to become famous in Brazil, new Poker clubs and associations were founded and the most famous tournament is the Brazilian Series of Poker.

The Government wants to apply laws similar to US UIGEA, to avoid unauthorized online gambling and tax evasions. The law impact is not clear and officials can not talk with numbers so far.
